Interior designers in Orange, NSW
Source Architects is an architecture and interior design studio at 146 Lords Place in Orange, working here since 2013. Interior design, joinery, finishes, lighting and furniture selection are handled in-house, either as part of a building project or as a project in their own right. Because the same registered architects lead both, the interiors are designed with the plan rather than applied to it afterwards.
Local, and in the room
Being an Orange studio means being able to walk through the space with you, meet the cabinetmaker, check a stone slab in person and be on site while the work goes in. For interiors, where everything comes down to detail and finish, that proximity does more good than it does on almost any other kind of project. See the wider practice on our Orange architects page.
Orange's older houses
The town has a large stock of period homes with good bones and difficult plans. The usual answer is not period reproduction, but a clearly contemporary intervention that lets the original rooms be themselves. See our heritage work.
What the service covers
Spatial planning, joinery and cabinetry design, finishes, tiling and stone, lighting, tapware and fittings, colour and furniture selection, documented properly so trades can build it. The full scope is set out under interior design and services.
Beyond Orange
We also work on interiors in Bathurst and across the Central West. To talk through a room, a house or a fit out, get in touch.
Same studio, one conversation
Because the interior design service in Orange comes from the same studio doing the architecture, there’s one conversation to have about a project, not two separate ones with different consultants who each need catching up. Decisions about a kitchen layout or a bathroom’s finishes happen in the same meetings as decisions about the building’s structure, at the point where changing either one is still easy and cheap.
What clients in Orange usually ask for first
Most interior design enquiries in Orange start with a kitchen, a bathroom, or a full renovation where the existing layout no longer suits how the house is used. Some clients arrive with a clear idea of what they want; others arrive with none at all beyond knowing the current arrangement isn’t working. Both are common starting points, and the brief development process is built to work either way.
Common questions about interior design in Orange
Where is your studio?
146 Lords Place, Orange NSW 2800, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm.
Can I engage you for interiors only?
Yes. Interior projects can be taken on independently of any building work, including joinery, finishes, lighting and furniture.
Do you work on Orange's older homes?
Yes. Orange has a large stock of period housing, and working contemporary interiors into those homes without spoiling them is regular work for the practice.
Do you select furniture as well?
Yes. Furniture selection and procurement coordination are part of the service so the finished room reads as one result.
How do we get started?
Get in touch through the contact page, or call the studio, to arrange an initial conversation.
